Altamonte Springs, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2016) – Graduates of Seminole State College of Florida’s Nursing Program have again surpassed state and national averages on their licensure exams, leading the rankings in Central Florida with a 98.95 percent pass rate. Third-quarter results of the National Council Licensure Examination(NCLEX) rate Seminole State College top among other Central Florida programs, including the University of Central Florida, Valencia College, Adventist University, and Daytona State College, among others. The state average is 74.05 percent, and the national average is 85.25 percent.
NCLEX is the state-required exam that determines whether graduates are prepared for entry-level nursing practice. To meet the tremendous demand for nurses, Seminole State has expanded its nursing enrollment by more than 300 percent over the past decade.
This announcement comes on the same day that Nursing and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) students at Seminole State College are demonstrating a state-of-the-art birthing simulator that creates lifelike labor and delivery. The “Victoria” birthing simulator gives students hands-on experience for birth scenarios. Victoria, who has eyes that blink and a heartbeat, can simulate both low- and high-risk deliveries, including a vaginal birth, C-section, breech, as well as a post-partum hemorrhage. The birthing system is remotely controlled in a separate room by instructors, and the combination of software and hardware allows for the precise control of fetal movements to be in perfect sync with vital signs during delivery.
